ANOC 6.0: ADIKARMA NIGHT OF CULTURE STUNS WITH A MAJESTIC JOURNEY THROUGH TIME

USM PENANG, 17 January 2026 - Universiti Sains Malaysia’s nationally renowned cultural arts club, Adikarma, returns with its annual showcase, Adikarma Night of Culture (ANOC) 6.0.

This year the showcase returns with the theme ‘Journey Through Time’, which takes the audience on an adventure through the different eras from traditional cultural dances to modern expressions.

The event not only displayed talents from the USM Main Campus but also shared the stage with students from the Engineering and Health Campuses.

From the theatre performance ‘Kamu, Tiap Semesta’ and ‘Kolattam Naattupura Thalam’ to ‘Tarian Cina Dimensi Wanita’, ANOC 6.0 holistically captured cultures through dances, music, and action.

The showcase opened with live music covers of local artists, followed by a brief welcome address from the Director of Student Development Centre, Student Development Affairs and Alumni Division (BHEPA), Professor Dr. Azizah Omar.

The performers made use of the Kompleks Cahaya (KOMCA) layout by integrating the multiple floors into their performances, creating a dynamic and unique stage.

Rocky Mok Kin Seng, a student who performed two dances for ANOC 6.0, shared that he had mixed feelings wrapping up ANOC.

“I feel relieved because all the practice, pressure, and hard work finally paid off. At the same time, I felt sad because the time spent with my team, the late-night rehearsals, and the moments on stage are now just memories,” explained Rocky.

Meshna Muthalyar Bala Saravanan, another performer, shared that there were some struggles faced during the preparation of the showcase.
“I wasn’t aware of or used to the amount of flexibility that was required by my dance, which is the Chinese dance, but I’m glad that I was able to adapt to it, as it was such an amazing journey for me and for my whole group, which was able to bring home a prize for best dance,” added Meshna.
From the audience’s perspective, Lexymi from the School of Biological Sciences shared that the team behind ANOC did an excellent job preparing the event.
“I came to support my friends who are performing, but overall the entire event exceeded my expectations. The event was not only beautiful but also inclusive and consisted of diverse performers and performances,” shared Lexymi.
Ultimately, Adikarma Night of Culture showcased the various talents of USM students by providing a supported platform for the youth’s artistic expressions.
