USM AND SHIZUOKA UNIVERSITY, JAPAN INKED MoA TO AFFIRM ACADEMIC COLLABORATION

USM PENANG, 19 December 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Shizuoka University, Japan, marking a strategic collaboration of academic exchange between the two institutions.
The ceremony was held as part of efforts to strengthen academic collaboration, research partnerships, and knowledge exchange between the two institutions, in line with advancing the internationalisation agenda of higher education.
The signing of the MoA, with the School of Languages, Literacies and Translation representing USM, marks an important milestone in strengthening institutional ties and expanding international collaboration.
It is expected to contribute positively to academic development, research engagement, and global outreach initiatives undertaken by both universities.
The MoA signing ceremony was graced by the presence of top leaders from three institutions.
Those present included the Consul General of Japan in Penang, Machida Shinya, from the Japanese Consulate General Penang; from USM, the Dean, School of Languages, Literacies and Translation, Professor Dr. Hazri Jamil; Deputy Dean for Talent, Professional and Student Development, Kelana Ahmad; and Principal Assistant Registrar, Aizat Hisham Ahmad.
Meanwhile, from Shizuoka University, those present were its President, Kazuyuki Hizume; and Vice-Presidents, Noriyasu Sato and Koichiro Awai.
