UNITED VOICES: A COLLABORATIVE USM-UNIMAS EXCHANGE EXPERIENCE
USM PENANG, 2 December 2025 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (SoLLaT) recently embarked on a three-day exchange programme in Sarawak from 21 to 23 November 2025.
The programme was held in collaboration with the Centre of Knowledge Advancement and Language (i-CATS University College) and the Faculty of Education, Language and Communication, Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS).
A total of 26 SoLLaT representatives, comprising 20 students, three lecturers, and three administrative staff, took part in this programme.
The exchange featured interactive local cultural activities and field visits, aimed at enhancing English language proficiency and communication skills, while providing participants with an immersive experience of Sarawak’s unique culture.
The visit to both universities was initiated by SoLLaT to encourage academic collaboration and cross-institutional learning, while also strengthening connections between the institutions involved.
On the whole, this programme was praised for its enriching learning opportunities and the meaningful bonds it fostered between students and faculty across the institutions, highlighting the success of the exchange and the benefits of both academic and cultural collaboration.
