The initiative aimed to provide motivation, guidance and support to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) candidates as they prepare for the written examinations scheduled from 25 November to 23 December 2025, which involve 413,372 candidates across 3,350 examination centres nationwide.

Throughout the programme, participants engaged in a range of activities, including motivational talks and interactive sessions with counsellors and USM student buddies, final tips on time management, stress management and effective use of study notes, as well as a special doa (prayer) led by a duty Ustaz, Al Fadhil Yanni to foster confidence and success.

An expert SPM teacher also shared examination answering techniques, followed by the distribution of examination supplies such as pencils, pens, erasers and a special good-luck card from the USM Vice-Chancellor.

Group photos, light refreshments and lunch were provided throughout the day, creating a warm, supportive and appreciated learning environment.

Participants expressed feeling valued and supported throughout the programme.

According to the Programme Coordinator, Associate Professor Dr. Shaik Abdul Malik Mohamed Ismail, the mosque provided excellent logistical support, ensuring the smooth running of all activities.

He added that the teaching staff and USM personnel from the School of Educational Studies (PPIP) and the Industry and Community Network Division (BJIM) effectively delivered knowledge, guidance and advice while the expert teacher responded attentively to participants’ critical questions.

This initiative was made possible through close collaboration between the USM Vice-Chancellor’s Office Team, the PPIP USM, BJIM USM and Masjid Jamek Sungai Gelugor, including its chairman, Tuan Haji Rosli and the entire mosque committee.

The Vice-Chancellor of USM, Professor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, who also serves as the Head of the 'Satu Pemimpin Satu Kampung (Santuni Madani)', expressed his appreciation for the meaningful collaboration from all parties and stated:

"Initiatives such as this reflect USM’s commitment to supporting the holistic development of students. Academic excellence, motivation, spirituality and examination skills are all emphasised.

We hope SPM 2025 candidates can fully benefit from the knowledge and guidance provided and approach their examinations with confidence and success."

This initiative clearly demonstrates USM’s dedication to the well-being and achievement of the students, nurturing not only academic skills but also motivation, spiritual awareness and effective coping mechanisms.

Programmes like this build confidence, discipline, resilience, time management and stress-handling abilities.

With holistic guidance and continuous support, students are encouraged to become responsible, ethical and future-oriented young leaders, capable of contributing positively to society and the nation.
