USM HEALTH CAMPUS STUDENTS VOLUNTEER FOR FLOOD MISSION
KUBANG KERIAN, January 2013 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Health Campus students volunteered to help the flood-hit East Coast community during this monsoon season recently.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Kubor (2) was the last flood relief centre to close in Kelantan when the residents of the area were allowed to return to their homes due to improved weather conditions.
USM Health Campus Volunteers for Flood Mission comprising 80 undergraduates from diverse studies started to clean the school-turned-relief centre as early as 9 am, finishing at 5 pm, to ensure the school is clean and safe for the new school session 2013.
Concern and dedication shown by the volunteer students from USM has enabled students of Sekolah Kebangsaan Pengkalan Kubor (2) to attend the first day of school of the year the next day.
The mission also received the cooperation of the Tumpat District Social Welfare Department, Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF), the Kelantan Red Crescent Society (MRCS), the National Security Council (Kelantan) as well as the school itself.
The one-day mission was to create awareness and cultivate the spirit of volunteerism among the students especially during the flood.
