KLE CHANCELLOR PROUD OF PIONEER BATCH OF MEDICAL GRADUATES
BELGAUM, INDIA, 23 June 2015 – The USM-KLE Medical Programme is hoped to bring a sense of pride to India and Malaysia in providing yet another alternative for studies in higher education in the field of Medical Sciences.
The Chancellor of Karnataka Lingayat Education (KLE) University, Dr. Prabhakar Kore when commenting about the Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM)-KLE Medical Programme said, the first batch of graduates to be conferred from this programme would be receiving their graduation scrolls at the USM Convocation ceremony this coming November.
“I am truly pleased and proud with the success of the USM-KLE Medical Programme in producing pioneering students who are of high quality,” he said when met at the university campus before attending the final examination Board Meeting for the USM-KLE Medical Programme here.
He too expressed his appreciation to the Director of USM-KLE Medical Programme Dr. H.B. Rajasekhar and also the Deputy Dean of USM-KLE Professor Dr. Kamarudin Jaalam for their hard work in ensuring the off-shore programme runs smoothly and bears fruits of success.
Prabhakar is a Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Chairperson of KLE Society (KLES), which has 440 educational institutions as well as 30 other institutions around the world.
When asked on upcoming plans in the future, he who also owns a hospital, Prabhakar Kore Charitable Hospital said, KLES foresees no problem to continue for the next five years in the agreement with USM and which could be extended from time to time and possibly to no end.
“The years or length of time is not really a yardstick, as what is more important would be the conferment of graduates with quality in academics, character and also having the values of a fully dedicated doctor,” he added.
He explained that the off-shore Medical Sciences programme marks the beginning, and may be followed with the introduction of other programmes in the future such as Dental Sciences, Nursing, Physiotherapy and so forth not only with Malaysia but also with other South-East Asian countries.
This view is also confirmed by Rajasekhar, in giving his support on the programme which began in 2010 and has produced outcomes, with all the pioneering students obtaining excellent results in all the examinations.
“Although the examination papers were prepared by the lecturers from the School of Medical Sciences (PPSP) USM, but with the training given to the teaching faculty at KLE, the knowledge albeit similar but within different surroundings has accorded the advantage to the students here to excel in their studies,” added Rajasekhar. - Translation: Mazlan Hanafi Basharudin/Text: Nor Rafizah Md.
