"USM remains committed to bridging the gap between academia and industry through meaningful collaborations," said Mariatti.

"Meanwhile, Micron's initiative is a critical step in promoting industry-driven education that benefits students, academic staff and the semiconductor industry as a whole," she added.

She also expressed her deep appreciation for Micron Memory Malaysia's continued support, particularly in the form of research grants, industry-in-the-classroom initiatives, and specialised boot camps, which have significantly enhanced the students' academic and practical knowledge.

"These strategic partnerships cultivate a dynamic and innovative learning environment that aligns academic excellence with industry expectations, ensuring that our graduates are highly skilled and industry ready," she said.

According to Professor Mariatti, as part of the initiative, 103 students from USM's Engineering Campus and School of Physics will participate in a certification programme and boot camp to gain hands-on experience and industry-relevant skills essential to the semiconductor sector.

In addition, 19 USM academic staff will receive specialised training in preparation for teaching the upcoming elective course, ensuring that they are well-equipped to deliver cutting-edge knowledge in line with industry standards.

In her speech, she also reaffirmed USM's commitment to strengthening engineering education and fostering industry-driven learning experiences.

"On behalf of USM, I extend my sincere appreciation to Micron Memory Malaysia for your commitment to education, research and talent development," she said.

"Your unwavering support has had a remarkable impact on the future of our students and academic staff," added Mariati.
