USM AND KEYSIGHT: BRIDGING ACADEMIA AND INDUSTRY FOR FUTURE-READY TALENTS
USM PENANG, 8 January 2025 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) recently hosted a pivotal meeting with Keysight Technologies Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. at the Main Campus, strengthening a partnership aimed at advancing research and education to equip students with industry-relevant skills.
In a groundbreaking move, Keysight officially announced the co-development of a course under its University Student Certification Programme with USM, marking the first such collaboration in Malaysia.
This milestone highlights Malaysia's growing prominence as a hub for global educational partnerships in technology.
Previously, courses under this programme were exclusively designed with universities in the United States, making this initiative a significant milestone in aligning academic curricula with industry requirements, driving innovation, and enhancing the employability of graduates.
The course aims to address the evolving needs of the technological sector by equipping students with cutting-edge skills and knowledge. Furthermore, its modular design ensures adaptability to rapidly changing industry demands.
With the potential to scale nationwide, this initiative also supports the National Semiconductor Strategy, contributing to Malaysia's aspirations in the global semiconductor landscape. It reflects a strategic alignment with Malaysia's economic and industrial growth agenda.
USM and Keysight’s collaboration exemplifies a shared commitment to advancing Malaysia's education and industry sectors while strengthening the university-industry relationship and positioning this partnership as a model for best practices across other institutions.
This initiative reinforces USM’s role as a leader in academic excellence and innovation, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in producing a robust and future-ready workforce.
The meeting brought together top leadership from both organizations, including USM’s Vice-Chancellor, Profesor Dato’ Seri Ir. Dr. Abdul Rahman Mohamed, along with Deputy Vice-Chancellors, and Deans, while Keysight was represented by Vice-President Lim Han Sing, General Manager of Keysight General Electronics Measurement Solutions (GEMS) Yip Wee Chong, as well as Directors, Managers, and other key officials from USM and Keysight.
