USM TEAMS EMERGED CHAMPIONS AT 14TH KIK CONVENTION
KUALA LUMPUR, 16 August 2018 – The KIK team from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) has emerged as the Overall Champion at the 14th KIK Convention for Public Universities (UA), held recently at University of Malaya (UM).
The ‘Galaksi R3 Group’ KIK (Kumpulan Inovatif dan Kreatif) team which represented the university was from the USM Advanced Medical and Dental Institute (IPPT).
In addition, USM also won in the Technical Category through the ‘Galaksi R3 Group’ and was crowned the winner for the Management Category through an entry by the ‘Protech Group’.
The ‘Protech Group,’ also from IPPT, was also awarded the Best Innovation Award at the convention.
The Head of ‘Galaksi R3 Group’, Syuhadah Sufian, said that she was proud of and grateful for the achievement by the group.
"As the head of the group, of course I am happy and grateful for the results of the collaborative effort by the team members and they are now enjoying the win. This success is a victory for both IPPT and USM," she said after her group was announced as the winner.
"This success does not stop here; we will increase our efforts to continue creating more successes in the future, particularly at the international level this coming October in Singapore," she added.
The ‘Galaksi R3 Group’ produced ‘Pro-Gait17,’ an innovative product to help patients who face walking difficulties. By using this innovation, treatment time was reduced, while maintaining the same level of quality and with a faster recovery period.
The Vice-Chancellor of University of Malaya, Datuk Ir. (Dr.) Abdul Rahim Hj. Hashim officiated the Awards Presentation and Closing Ceremony of the 3-day convention at the University’s Dewan Tunku Canselor.
Also present in celebrating the success were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Development Affairs & Alumni), Professor Dato’ Dr. Adnan Hussein and the USM Registrar, Dr. Musa Ali.
The winning results of the 14th KIK UA CONVENTION are as follows:
1. Best Facilitator Award - Technical: GALAKSI R3 (USM)
2. Best Innovation Award - Management: PROTECH (USM)
3. Management Category [Cash, Certificate of Acknowledgement & Trophy] - Champion: PROTECH (USM)
4. Technical Category [Cash, Certificate of Acknowledgement & Trophy] - Champion: GALAKSI R3 (USM)
5. Overall Award - Champion: GALAKSI R3 (USM)
