BAYAN LEPAS, PENANG, 18 July 2018 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) through the Institute for Research in Molecular Medicine (INFORMM) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Agilent Technologies Malaysia, paving the way for strategic collaboration that would lead to knowledge-based economic outcomes.

USM being one of the leading universities in Malaysia and Agilent, a major global industry player in the fields of Life Sciences, Diagnostics and Applied Chemicals have expressed an interest in establishing a collaborative relationship that would be mutually beneficial to consolidate and bolster each other’s strengths.

The MoU signing adds another significant milestone towards enhancing research collaborations between USM and the industry. This collaborative effort between USM and Agilent is aimed at establishing cooperation to develop, support and enrich future research activities and educational programmes.

The Vice-Chancellor of USM, Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail was there to represent USM in signing the document, while Agilent was represented by their Country General Manager, Chai Meng Fee. The Director of INFORMM, Professor Dr. Rahmah Noordin and Agilent Penang R&D Manager, Lai Lip Soon were there to witness the signing.

Also present at the event were the USM Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research & Innovation, Professor Dr. Ir. Abdul Rahman Mohamed; Agilent South Asia Pacific Regional Sales Director, Ken Tan; Country Sales Manager, Soh Lam Seng and the top management from both Agilent and USM.
