USM HEALTH CAMPUS RECEIVES ‘LEAN MANAGEMENT’ GOLD AWARD

KUBANG KERIAN, KELANTAN, 8 June 2017 – The Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) Health Campus created history when it was given Gold Recognition for ‘Lean Management’ practices by the Malaysia Productivity Corporation (MPC) recently.

This recognition was the outcome of the presentation and evaluation of seven projects which have made a significant mark on customers as well as in making notable reduction in costs.

According to the Director of USM Health Campus, Professor Dr. Ahmad Sukari Halim, this accomplishment complements the overall success in the aspect of quality achieved by the campus.

“Alhamdulillah after more than 10 years, the Health Campus has maintained its MS ISO recognition, which has been followed by other achievements from the Innovative & Creative Group (KIK) at the state and national levels, QE 5S, making this ‘Lean Management’ Gold recognition as a complement and which is truly meaningful for the Health Campus,” says Ahmad Sukari, who is also the Director of Hospital USM.

“I am thankful that the Health Campus has individuals of high calibre driving the quality programme, along with team members having a high commitment.”

“My hope is for such commitment and earnestness to continue, and at the same time bringing significant benefits in raising the USM quality of service for its customers in the future,” added Ahmad Sukari.

The Project Leader for Discharge Summary DS-GGP, Health Campus ‘Lean Management’ Committee, Professor Dr. Shaiful Bahari Ismail said, this achievement was the result of hard work done by the whole team.

“I believe that this success is a continuing effort by USM towards upgrading its quality of services,” said Shaiful Bahari, who is also the Dean of USM School of Medical Sciences.

“Personally, I see that this ‘Lean Management’ activity has successfully established cooperation from various disciplines. The planned activities have been implemented and have resulted in a positive perception among the patients currently undergoing treatment at USM Hospital.”

This recognition would be effective for a period of 2 years, beginning 19 May 2017 – 18 May 2019.
