USM, PENANG, 25 March 2017 – The Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), Professor Datuk Dr. Asma Ismail recently received a delegation from several United Kingdom (UK) universities to discuss potential cooperation in various fields of study and research.

"USM has thus far signed nine Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) and five Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with various universities from UK such as the University of Glasgow, Keele University, Middlesex University London and University of Bath," said the Vice-Chancellor.

"In forging academic collaboration with universities worldwide, USM offers dual programmes, community network projects, student exchange, staff mobility, and cooperation with the industry either in Penang or the medical campus in Karnataka, India," added Asma.

The Vice-Chancellor also welcomed the UK universities to join the Asia-Pacific University-Community Engagement Network (APUCEN) and establish strategic partnership with the 87 universities from 19 countries in the network for closer and stronger cooperation.

Also present representing the UK Universities were British Council Malaysia Head of Education Services, Jennifer Wan; International Officer, King's College London, Francine Dawson; International Recruitment Officer, St. Mary's University of London, Dr. Robert Duncan and Southeast Asia Regional Officer, University of Reading, Mala Sivapragasam while USM was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and International), Professor Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah; deans and representatives of schools.
