Three out of six researchers from Malaysia who are listed in the 2016 World’s Highly Cited Researchers, released recently by Clarivate Analytics, come from Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM).

They are Professor Dr. Abdul Latif Ahmad and Professor Dr. Bassim H. Hameed from the School of Chemical Engineering, and Professor Dr. Abd. Karim Alias from the School of Industrial Technology, who is also the Director of USM Centre for Development of Academic Excellence & Student Development (CDAE).

Latif and Bassim are listed under the Engineering category while Karim is under the Agricultural Sciences category.

They were among some 3,000 researchers, in 21 categories of research publications in science and social sciences, who were selected based on the number of highly cited papers.

The Highly Cited Researchers' list from Clarivate Analytics is a citation analysis based on the Thomson Reuters Web of Science database, identifying scientists whose research has had significant global impact within their respective category of study.
