PENANG, 17 November 2015 – Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) International Office and Postgraduate Students Association (PSA) recently held a celebration of the 1^st International Students Appreciation Night (ISAN) 2015.

According to ISAN 2015 programme Director, Yasser M. Tabana, the target of this event was to appreciate international students who would be graduating in the 52^nd USM Convocation as well as to provide further motivation to other international students currently pursuing their studies. 

"The programme is hosted for the international students, both undergraduates and postgraduates who represent different countries and nationalities at USM," he said. 

Yasser added, ISAN also showcased the cultural diversity and fostered community networking between all the international students and during this special night, USM has presented awards to the outstanding students from all schools and all of them were provided with the opportunity to present their culture with stage performances. 

The Director of International Office (IO), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Anees Janee Ali said, this event really reflected the potential of all the international students in working together as a team and in proving that they can deal with whatever challenges faced in any situation. 

"The most important thing is to remain calm and proceed with whatever we can do at that moment and more importantly is that, the participants were happy and could gather together with their friends and family members," he added. 

International foods were served and Malay cultural performance was also presented, to be shared with the new international students and at the end of the event, PSA members were presented with awards by the Director of International Office for their efforts to run the various different projects and programmes. 

Also present at the event was the Dean of the School of Physics, Professor Dr. Mohamad Suhaimi Jaafar.
