The USM Vice-Chancellor too has urged the MPP student leaders to utilise the opportunities during their term to develop their leadership skills and talents to become globalised leaders in the future and to gather knowledge for the future, which include enhancing their soft skills, raising their self-potentials and establishing added-values on themselves.

The Vice-Chancellor too agreed with the view that the MPP student leaders need to have a plan for programmes to be conducted beyond their term of appointment.

"By planning the programmes in such a manner, continuity can be assured in the implementation process, and this would facilitate the building of the HEBAT brand by the University,” said Omar.

The Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni), Professor Dato’ Dr. Adnan Hussein had previously proposed to the university to implement the HEBAT graduate-branding programme which refers to the characteristics of ‘Holistic’, ‘Entrepreneural’ in having an entrepreneur mindset, ‘Balanced’ in having a stable and harmonious personality, ‘Articulate’ and ‘Thinker’ concerns with being thoughtful.

HEBAT graduates are those who would fulfil the needs of the country at the local and international levels, having global mindsets, reflecting a ‘sense of belonging’ towards the university, society and country and with a strong sense of self-worth, instilled via the various mechanisms and strategies of the initiative.

The MPP student leaders are also hoped to realise the concept of ‘Saya Sayang USM’ and ‘USM Sayang Saya’ as a two-way initiative in contributing towards the development in the future.

The proposals and opportunities provided by the university were well-received by Mohd. Fahmi, in view of the plan presented by the MPP was the first time to be welcomed by the university.

“This is truly an acknowledgement for us by the university, which needs to be mutually benefitted to ensure the success of future plans,” he said when met after the meeting.

Mohd. Fahmi had explained earlier that, the plan by MPP USM for this year would be to raise the conditions of the students’ wellbeing and their involvement in community engagement activities, becoming the intermediary between the students and the university management authorities, and to raise the efforts in managing the MPP organisation and aiming for successes in 3 main areas, which are creating greater awareness of the environment, team-empowerment and creativity and innovation.

At the same time, said Mohd. Fahmi, the MPP plans to introduce ‘e-Aduan’ online facilities, for them to gather and listen to students’ views as well as to forward the views on various relevant issues for the benefit of the university and the students.
