USM – PNU STRENGTHENS ASEAN COLLABORATION

PENANG, August 2015 - The School of Languages, Literacies and Translation (PPBLT), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), continues to strengthen the collaboration network among ASEAN countries through the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU) Thailand in the areas of student exchange, joint research and publication recently.

USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato' Dr Omar Osman hopes that USM and PNU will expand further collaborative activities in other areas of disciplines in the future.

"Through this colaboration, USM opens up an opportunity for PNU academic staff to continue their studies at a higher level in USM especially in the field of English," he said.

Meanwhile, PNU President, Assistant Professor Dr. Rossukon Sangmanee welcomes this collaboration and hopes that more collaboration in the field of language can be carried out in the future.

She hopes that USM as a research university with APEX status can help PNU in the field of research and language courses through student exchange.

Rossukon Sangmanee also present in the Novel Research and Innovation Competition (NRIC) 2015 award giving ceremony. PNU also participated in the competition by sending in nine entries and managed to win one gold, two silver and three bronze medals.

As of today, USM has collaborated with various parties, local and international agencies which involve more than 230 memoranda since 2014, including more than 17 MoUs and 17 MoA with various parties in Thailand.
