PATTANI, 15 January - Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) will strengthen its cooperation with regional universities to empower common areas of strength including the development of Islamic studies.

USM Vice-Chancellor, Professor Dato’ Omar Osman said this in a meeting with the Director of the College of Islamic Studies, Prince of Songkla University, Pattani Campus.

“There are many areas that could be shared between the two parties and we should continue to explore and realise these areas although a memorandum of understanding had been signed earlier,” said Omar.

He added that now is the time for us to realise all the existing agreements.

Also present at the meeting were the Ambassador of Malaysia to Thailand, Dato’ Nazirah Hussain and Thai Member of Parliament, Professor Dr Kanok Wongtrangan.
